This is our version of a small light box. My husband built this box with stock 1 x 4" lumber. It is large enough to hold a letter size sheet of paper. I will make a much larger one for sensory use, but this one is for smaller tabletop work. We mitred the corners and cut channel groves down all sides to slide in the plexi glass. We pinned and glued the frame with finish nails and brads. We are using plexi glass for safety reasons.
We adhered frosted contact paper to the underside of our glass to diffuse the light. We lit our box with inexpensive battery operated press lights.
We have had an amazing time viewing animal x-rays. We printed some of our onto overhead transparency paper.
Xander is using our Magnification Tray to explore these images among other things like negatives. We do have a microscope, but this is a simple tray that we put together with different types of everyday devices for magnifying. The tray includes a sheet magnifier, card magnifier, magnifying glass, rod magnifier, slide and negative magnifier, and just for fun a fly'S eye!
So starts our light box discoveries!!!
