We have put together another Lego storage solution for Mr. Xander, that I thought I would share. We started with parts cabinets and really liked them but I saw this on pinterest and it gave me an idea!
I found these clear drawer organizers at the dollar store.
The thing that is awesome about these, is that they are made to fit together to fill any area.
My husband built these two basic pine trays on carpet sliders. Casters would have made them to high for under Xander's bed. These were made from an 8' x 18" pine laminated shelf from Home Depot for $18.00. He cut them down to fit the width of the containers, and cut strips to create a frame around the edge to keep the containers in place. One will slide under the bed, and the other will slide under his dresser.
Xander loves to have all of his Lego out and visible to create. Ours is narrow because we have limited floor space. A dust cover could also be made, I usually use a hairdryer to blow out the containers.
It's like a Lego salad bar. He does have a building table with large building plates. We have started to sort and fill the containers but still have a bit to go.
This one houses Hero Factory parts, while the assembled figures are on shelving in his closet.
As his collection grows I am sure we will create new systems to store it.
