Plant Identification In Winter, Identifying Dormant Plants In The Garden Montessori Botany At Home

We did some winter plant material collecting in our gardens.

We have a fair collection of perennial plants and I created sheets of images and names of all of the different plants we grow in our gardens while  in bloom.

I also put together images for all of the things we collected, so that he could identify them on his own at first and we could chat about the different characteristics of each plant, seeds etc.
Then he checked out what they looked like in bloom.
I snipped a few tree tips for Xander to identify and compare buds.

Having a little fun with Black Eyed Susans here 😃

Miss Ava checked out what we were doing, but went on to do a little bird matching.
This is a cute Montessori Print Shop activity you can find here.
