DIY Montessori Brown Stair, Sensorial At Home

Ava has started working with the Brown Stair.  She loves building and creating so she has had lots of fun.  This type of work is not new for Ava, as she has been working with many types of design and construct developmental toys for quite some time, however this is a beautiful material that relates directly to Montessori Math.

Here is a great explanation from the Montessori Primary Guide of the brown stair.  This is a presentation of the Pink Tower and Brown Stair from Margaret Homfay.
We made our own stair.  Here is a post with more details

We built our own Pink Tower & Brown Stair and you can check that out here.

We do use design mats that we made simply with construction paper, Bristol board, and large size contact paper to laminate.
Ava loves this iPad app for the Pink Tower and Stair.  They give a great explanation of the app in this video
I used to keep our stair on our shelf, and we transported it to the carpet in a basket. It is now in a basket as is our Pink Tower.

Miss Ava is loving her activities!
