The Lilac Reading Series is introduced after the completion of Pink Series work. Lilac series is the introduction to high frequency sight words. The first 25 words are recommended to be learned before Blue Series work, and the remaining during.
We did actually start some of these sight words during Pink Series work when we started readers.
We usually read them at night before story time. We have also used a variety of other cards from various reader and packaged sets.
Montessori Research and Development Language Arts Vol 3, provides a list of 500 high frequency words to create your own lists and cards in addition to any words you would like to add.
This is a simple set I created in word that contains 39 lists - 13 words each.
