Early Fraction Work, Counting With Montessori Fraction Skittles At Home

Ava LOVES the fraction skittles, so I thought we would do a little counting and early fraction language work with them.

You can certainly make early introductions to fraction language with many different objects from fruit to puzzles, and various printables.

There are tons of products available!
In this post we are using our Montessori Fraction Skittles. This is a beautiful set of 4 Skittles representing whole to quarters.

This activity was interesting to Ava for creating quantities for symbols.

This was a wonderful exercise in motor control, as it takes a fair amount of care to assemble the cones without knocking them down.

I used some fraction language (as seen in the video) with Ava when counting the parts.
One of 2 parts etc.

We used only the image portion of our fraction cards for now. We borrowed the wooden number cards that we had made to go with our numbered rods to label.

We bought our skittles here, and the cards as well.

If you haven't paid this post a visit check it out! This is a collection of early fun fraction work we did with Xander.

A collection of Early fraction Printables, we put together for the kids.
