I have been making beaded icicles for our Christmas tree for years, with sparkly silver bugle beads and such. This is a fantastic simple fine motor activity for kids to make for their tree, or as gifts.
This is our tray. I used a heavy lasagna baking dish and a clear egg carton for the beads and sequins. I like this tray because it is a little more heavy and isn't toppled so easily. I usually have a series of
pre-strung starter icicles in the tray.
We are using jewellery wire here from the dollar store. In fact everything you see here can be purchased from the dollar store.
My husbands Grandmother gave us a huge collection of sequins to add to our collection of sewing embellishments and notions.
This is our general beading box for the kids. It is a small toolbox filled with all the essentials. The bottom holds a great selection of beads, and the removable top tray is filled with different types of stringing implements.
Our favourite is the clear stretch plastic string. I also included a necklace building tray (green) from the craft store.
This is my favourite storage box, that I have filled with all kinds of fun goodies for sewing and crafts. The front folds down to expose three pull out containers - below is our sequin container.
You can find it here!
This is a silver version we have also made.
