Montessori Multiplication Fact Memorization Materials Printables

We have been busy getting materials together to fill the gaps in our materials, and in turn offering some economical printable options to you. This is a huge package that covers all of the materials used during this extensive work!! You can check it out here.

Montessori Memorization Materials Sequence
Memorization work starts with Board and Chart work. These materials are at times used together so it is a good idea to have all of the materials for each operation ready to go.
The Equation Tiles (from the equation boxes) are used with the Boards and Charts as well. Some make Equation Slips for the work in addition to using the equation tiles, but I did not find it necessary. I separated our Equation tiles by family 2’s 3’s etc, to make things easier. We chose random equation tiles and recorded the equations in our math journal. This also requires less printing and cutting and provides additional writing practice. This is your choice to make.
The Booklets are included. For early students this can be fun and interesting to discover patterns and make introductions, but later we found them most useful used in random form.
We found random picking from a family of Equations tiles 4’s for example, and recording them in the booklet to be a little more fun. Then we recorded the full equations and answers in a journal. It’s up to your child to discover!
You will also need to buy or prepare a number of coloured bead stairs. They are used for fact practice as well.

The Snake Games are all played during the memorization sequence.
Nearing the end of each operation - formats for each operation and words problems are introduced.

Multiplication is the most extensive of all of this work. Our hope was to provide an economical complete option.

When you get into Multiplication fact work you also need to have your Bead Cabinet Material and Decanomial Box ready.

You will be getting into squaring work, powers of numbers and the Decanomial.

The Decanomial Bead Box contains bead bars 1-10, and 55 of each.
Please note that most recognise these materials from suppliers or other sources online, but there are many additional concepts and lessons covered in the 3-6 Montessori Research & Development Vol 1 Mathematics Manual.
This is a huge amount of work to cover, and over half of the manual is dedicated to this work.
According to our manual (depending on the child ) the work could be started around 5 and spans to 8+ years of age as you move through operations. We used all of the boards at an early age to demonstrate each operation, but stopped there. This was our choice not a recommendation, but it worked very well for us.
The materials for memorization (for us) were not started until age 7. My son was not interested in fact work till that point.
Again these are our thoughts from our own experience with the work and manual - not recommendations.
