We were visiting a museum in Syracuse New York, MOST and they had a funnel sand art setup that was just fantastic!
We decided to create a simple easy version for us at home!
Here's what we did...
We used a big under the bed storage box for simply the size of surface area, and the sides were high enough to contain the sand really well. Bonus that we already had one! I used one puzzle mat piece and cut it to fit the bottom of the bin to create our designs on. They could easily lift it to clear the sand and start again.
We found fun coloured play sand that was so beautiful to use. Any fine play sand will work, it just needs to be super dry and fluid to freely flow through the funnels.
Our set up was on our deck. We secured a 16' deck board to a tree and a tall step ladder to suspend the funnel from. Our funnel was anchored at three points with garden string.
Use what ever you have but it helps if what ever you use holds the funnel securely even when pulled on.
This would be great fun with added
colours of sand!
Such a great idea! Forget the kids...I would love this! ;)
